posted on behalf of Anne Volvey, University Arras, France Call for papers: Art and space This call for papers bounds to a special issue of the journal Travaux de l’Institut de Géographie de Reims untitled “La géographie dans l’approche spatiale de l’art” (Geography within the spatial approach of art). It aims at accompanying the emerging discipline of art geography, and at fostering ways of enriching this dynamic with pluri-, inter- or trans-disciplinarity. It is linked to a context where non-geographical ways of dealing with art happen to borrow or to share with geography itself issues, objects or either conceptual or methodological tools. The special issue is about the various dimensions of the contemporaneous investigation of the relationship between art – as a cultural activity –, geography – as a social and human science of space –, and space – as resource and construct of the first one and object for the latter. It also questions what is at stake for geography in such an investigation. We welcome both case studies and theoretical approaches. For further information, please visit either the Calenda website (http://calenda.revues.org/nouvelle7051.html), where the original call for papers is posted, or the Espacestemps.net website at http://www.espacestemps.net/document2074.html, both in French. Thanks to take into account that the papers’ summaries are expected before September 15th, 2006, and should be sent to Claude Dumenil, Département de Géographie, 57, rue Taittinger, F-51096 Reims Cedex, [log in to unmask], or to Anne Volvey, Département de Géographie Université d’Artois, 9 rue du Temple, BP665, F-62030 Arras, [log in to unmask] If accepted, the final papers are expected for December 15th 2006.
