Downstream Term applying to functions or facilities closer to the end-user. Refining and marketing are generally downstream processes in the oil patch while exploration and production are upstream. However, the term also applies to any function or facility below the point of reference: retailing is downstream of terminaling.

Mae’n derm hollol dwp a dweud y gwir, ond ddim cweit mor dwp â “lawr yr afon”!!  Cadw at rywbeth fel eilaidd – mae “lawr yr afon” yn swnio fel llinell o gân gan GL!!

Dwi wedi gweld cwpl o enghreifftiau o "diwydiant olew 'i lawr yr afon'" ar y We. A oes rhywun yn gwbod ydi'r term hwn yn gydnabyddedig, neu oes rhywbeth mwy dealladwy i'w gael? Fyddai "eilaidd" yn symud gormod o'r term gwreiddiol?
