medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture MG-- Brevard Childs' commentary on Exodus contains some general information about the interpretation of chapters 25-31 as a whole. He suggests Philo's *Life of Moses* II.88ff. as an important source for later symbolic interpretations. Origen (Hom. 9 on Ex.) gives a moral interpretation of the tabernacle, but I don't think he goes into much detail. For the medievals, Childs mentions: Bede, *De Tabernaculo*, PL 91:394ff. (also translated into English by Arthur G. Holder, published 1994) Hrabanus Maurus, commentary on Exodus, PL 108:241ff. Peter Callensis, *Mosaica Tabernacli Mystica Expositio*, PL 202:1047ff. He also notes some post-Reformation (17th- and early 18th-century) works on the tabernacle that go crazy with the symbolism of all the details, if you're interested. --Jonathan On 25 Jun 2006, at 3:31 AM, Marjorie Greene wrote: > medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and > culture > > Doctissimi, > > This isn't exactly medieval but it is religion, and could relate to > medieval matters. > Does anyone have any suggestions for reading on the priestly > garment prescribed by Yahweh for Aaron and described in EX 28 and > elsewhere?
