Youth Culture/s in Europe



A One-Day Conference to be held in June 2007 at Kingston University, London



CALL FOR PAPERS





The conference is sponsored by the Journal of Contemporary European Studies 
and seeks to provide a forum for critical, interdisciplinary debate on 
discourses of youth cultures in European countries.



Contributions from a wide variety of perspectives are encouraged, either as 
single country or comparative studies, such as:



-         Youth culture and /class/gender/race

-         Youth culture as political contestation

-         Consumption and cultural resistance

-         Cultural practice and commodification

-         Immigrant youth culture

-         Youth-specific media

-         Boys and the 'feminisation' of education

-         'Girl power'

-         Youth as 'key to the future'

-         Youth and crime

-         Global youth culture

-         Spaces of youth culture

-         Poverty and unemployment

Proposals for papers of approx. twenty minutes in length are invited on any 
aspect of this topic.
