Dear Aacorners with a ticket to the AoM conference in Atlanta this august,

don’t forget to keep a space for the Aacorn Caucus in your busy conference calendar:

Developing a Research Agenda for the Arts, Aesthetics and Organizational Research Field

Hotel:  Hyatt Regency Atlanta

Room: Geneva

Day: Tuesday, August 15, 2006

Time: 8:30 AM-10:10 AM

Description:

How can the interconnections between the fields of art, aesthetics and organizations be researched and theorized? In past years the Academy Arts and the Fringe Café allowed AoM members to explore what art practice and art theory had to offer to organizational researchers and visa versa. This caucus will follow up on these initiatives and offers a forum for sharing experiences and thoughts about the subject of arts, aesthetics and organizational research. The focus of the caucus is pragmatic: to develop a research agenda. Discussions are to shed light on the practical implications of using artful methods in organizations - for example in training and organizational development - and to allow scholars to find common interests and themes. Some questions to be considered are: What can the arts do for organizations? How to develop research projects in the area of arts and aesthetics in organizations? What are aesthetic or artful research methodologies? What is the community and how to find likeminded scholars for collaborative research efforts? How to develop stronger theories in the research area?

Hope to see you there,

The organizing team
