Cancer Services for the People of Wales

The Health and Social Services Committee is undertaking a review of cancer services for people in Wales.  The committee has identified a number of issues as a result of preliminary consultation undertaken earlier this year, which are published at: http://www.wales.gov.uk/keypubassemhealsocsvs/content/policy-e.htm.  You are invited to provide written evidence to the committee on issues raised in this document.  You may find it helpful to read the transcript of the Committee’s meeting on 23rd March as background.  This can be obtained on the internet at http://assembly/rop/ROP/Committees/HSS/hss060323fv7.pdf.  Please send your response to Jane Westlake on [log in to unmask] .  Closing date is Monday 24th July 2006.

Race Equality Guidelines

Black Voluntary Sector Network Wales (BVSNW), on behalf of the Community First Support Network (CFSN) has taken a lead role to put together a document called “Race Equality Guidelines”.  This document will be officially launched on 21st June 2006 at the Welsh Assembly.  In order to ensure that there is a wide representation from communities across Wales at the launch, we would be interested in hearing from anyone who would like to attend the event, especially BME community groups/individuals.  If anyone is interested, please register your interest with Liliane Jammaers on  02920 440 181 or email: [log in to unmask] . CPD GO Wales £500 towards training and development

Are you looking to take part in any training or development activities?  Why not see if CPD GO Wales can help with the costs, we can provide up to £500 match funding towards training courses, events, conferences and exam fees.   All we ask is that you meet a few eligibility criteria:  You must work for an Small & Medium sized Enterprise, companies with less than 250 employees based in Wales, the person taking part in the training has a degree or degree level qualification i.e. HND, NVQ level 4 or above.  For further details, or to apply for funding, please contact Charlotte Williams on 029 2087 9119 or email [log in to unmask]

 

 

Community Trust Fund

Applications for the Communities Trust Fund are invited from 1 April 2006.  The Trust Fund is aimed at small community led organizations in Communities First areas in Wales and will support any type of activity that involves local people and of economic environmental, social or cultural benefit to the local community.  The maximum grant available to applicants is £5,000 in any financial year and applications can be made throughout the year until the deadline of 31 January 2007.  Further information can be obtained by contacting the Communities First Helpline on 0800 587 8898 or email [log in to unmask].  You can also download an application pack from the Communities First website www.communitiesfirst.info

 

Community Development Foundation: Launch of Practice Links in Wales

CDF’s Practice Links Programme has been operating for some time in England and we are now extending it to Wales. One of CDF’s main roles is to provide policy makers with lessons and evidence from practice. CDF’s Practice Links Programme aims to ensure that practitioners’ voices are heard in policy forums.
