medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
No St. Anne
in sight, though.
Try Brittany. Ste Anne D'Auray. Did
you know that Saint Anne was a Breton woman ? [ I didn't (:-) ] It seems she
married a sailor who took her to the Holy Land where he died and then she took
the BVM's father (Joakim) as her second husband and that after he had died and
Mary had married Joseph she returned to Brittany ? I kid you not!! I do not know
how many modern Bretons would swear by this legend, but at one time it
flourished in Brittany !!
This research is fun!
And how!! I don't care if they are
true or not! I LOVE stories like this! They arose because people really
cared.
Brenda.
