Sheer ignorance. Also, I would have thought, a sort of projection mechanism - horrified that he'd nearly injured you, he shouts at you for making *him* feel upset (maybe would have shouted at you if you *had* worn a helmet, but found some other rationale). Similar to when parents shout at their children who've just had a near accident (always puzzled me that one - surely they'd be *happy* their child was safe?). Martin Parkinson
