=== ECDL 2006 Doctoral Consortium - Deadline 22 April ===

ECDL 2006, The European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for
Digital Libraries, will feature a Doctoral Consortium to give doctoral
students the opportunity to discuss their work with experienced researchers
from the Digital Library Community as also with other students.

Attendance at the Doctoral Consortium will be based on an acceptance of a
written abstract, of up to 6 pages, singly authored by the student.

Submissions must be done in PDF format, following the layout guidelines for
the LNCS format provided by Springer (please see http://www.ecdl2006.org/),
followed by a free supporting statement from the adviser.

Deadline for submission is 22 April, to be sent by email to
[log in to unmask]

Accepted students will have to deliver a full paper, which will be published
electronically in a special issue of the bulletin of the IEEE TCDL -
Technical Committee for Digital Libraries. The students will be able to
present also a poster at the ECDL 2006 poster session.

The full papers will be reviewed by senior scientists who will be also
present in the Doctoral Consortium meeting, where the students will receive
feedback about their work and will have a chance to participate in an open
discussion.

The paper will be the basis for detailed discussions at the Consortium. To
get the most out of the discussion it should include:

    * motivation for the proposed research

    * background and related work (with key references)

    * description of proposed research including main research questions,
research methodology and proposed experiments (where appropriate)

    * particular issues which you want to highlight for discussion.

All submissions will be reviewed by the Doctoral Consortium Program
Committee, with respect to overall quality of presentation, the potential
for future impact of the proposed PhD research on the field of Digital
Libraries, and the likely benefit to the student of attending the
Consortium.
