Hi, and apologies once more for multiple
postings.
The 2006 Gordon Research Conference on Rock Deformation: Processes
& Patterns
will be held at the Big Sky, Montana, Sept 3-8, 2006
The 2006 GRC on Rock Deformation is the 6th in a series of conference
that have been organised since 1995 by the Physical Properties of Earth
Materials Community, most recently in 2004 on The Role of Water on Rock
Deformation, and will be held at the Big Sky Resort, in the heart of
the northern Rockies,
The theme of this conference is the relationship between the processes
of rock deformation (from the nano-scale diffusion of atoms up to the
lithospheric-scale transfer of large volumes of molten rock) and the
spatial and temporal patterns that result. At this early stage the
following represent only a partial list of the potential topics of
interest.
Big Sky, south-western Montana
is located between West Yellowstone and
Bozeman, Montana. Nearby Montana tourism attractions include
Yellowstone National Park, the Gallatin River Canyon, and the Madison
River Valley. Crystalline rocks of Precambrian age underlie the entire
State of Montana, but are exposed only in the cores of Laramide-age
mountain ranges in the south-west. Big Sky is less than 100km from the
Stillwater Complex, and from the western entrance to Yellowstone Park .
Detailed information, including links to registration forms,
scholarship information and travel advice are available via the
conference web site:
