Unintended Consequences: Refugee Victims of the War on Terror

A presentation of the GULC Fact-Finding Project on Colombian Refugees and
the Material Support Bar.

 
Hear the stories of Colombian refugees barred from entry to the U.S. because
they were victims of terrorist extortion.

Speakers:

David Cole, author of Enemy Aliens: Double Standards and Constitutional
Freedoms in the War on Terrorism (New Press), will describe the unintended
consequences of US anti-terrorism laws for immigrant and refugee populations.
 
Professor Andy Schoenholtz and 11 Georgetown J.D. Candidates will discuss
their fact-finding mission to Ecuador to document the stories of Colombian
refugees affected by U.S. anti-terror provisions and their subsequent
advocacy efforts. They will also discuss opportunities to participate next 
year.
