Thank you. The consensus is just that – that it needs good planning but is overall very positive.

Polly,

Yes, This Museum worked with the PCF who are currently working on a Catalogue of oil paintings in Public ownership in Hampshire.  We only have a small numbers of works in our collection; and if you your collection is well documented you shouldn't have too much extra work in regard to the dates of the artist etc.  However, if you you have lots of paintings in storage or in postitions in which it is necessary to move them so that they can be photographed I would expect that this require quite a bit of input on your part.

My experience of working with the PCF has been very positive.

Has anyone worked with the Public Catalogue Foundation to photograph their oil paintings & provide documentary information for publication? We’ve been asked if we want to get involved & it sounds a worthwhile project. We are already part way through our own collections audit and so this project may well dovetail beautifully. However, our project is (of course) behind time and I don’t want to cause any more set backs if I can help it. So, I’d really appreciate some information on the practical realities of contributing to the project.

Thank you
