Apologies for cross-posting. MA/MSc Digital Performance Queen Mary, University of London Queen Mary, University of London is launching a new cross-disciplinary masters degree - a joint MA/MSc in Digital Performance - promoting engagement between technology, social science and the arts. The course is the result of a unique collaboration between the School of English and Drama and the Department of Computer Science and will see its first intake of students in September 2006. Students will graduate with either an MA or an MSc according to the pathway taken by them through a range of interdisciplinary courses. The programme aims to develop both technically literate artists and artistically literate technologists by bringing both together in shared fields of intellectual and practical enquiry. It is offered in collaboration with EA Games and Microsoft. The first of its kind, the programme explores ways in which digital media alter the potential of human interaction and performance, from multi-user computer games, to stage design, to funerals. A core intellectual concern is the nature of human engagement in all its forms and the configuration of technology as a means of enriching it. The programme draws on theories of communication and mutual engagement from performance studies, psychology and sociology, and applies them to the analysis of interaction in varying contexts from virtual chat rooms to video conferences. The curriculum also takes advantage of Londonšs unrivalled position as the leading international centre for live performance to experience, critique and create a range of events. The degree will produce creative and technically literate graduates able to apply themselves within a range of creative industries from digital performance art to computer games design and interactive multimedia systems development.
