Darn o drafodaeth o rhywle arall:

"I suspect that Greek 'pur' and Welsh 'pry' have the same Indo-European 
root. 'Pyrausta', of course, is not an ancient word but was given to this 
genus of moths by von Schrank in 1802 and it does, I am sure, reflect the 
moth round the flame image."

Lol, dybiwn i. Daw Pyrausta o 'pur' (tan) a 'auo' (cynnau/llosgi). Ynteu 
oes na gnegwath o wirionedd yma? O le daeth y gair 'pryf'?
