Dear All

This email is to inform you about a support network for psychology
postgraduates who teach (PGwT) in the UK. The network was set up by
two psychology postgraduate researchers who teach at Kingston
University (Debbie Smith and Natasha Coppins) and is funded by the
Higher Education Academy Psychology Network (HEAPN).

The network is designed to offer support and help via this website
and quarterly workshops, hosted at different universities within the
regions. The website includes a member profile section, in which
you can find and contact members with similar research areas, and
build networks.
(<file:///exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.psychology.heacademy.ac.uk/html/postgrads_who_teach.asp <file:///\\exchweb\bin\redir.asp?URL=http://www.psychology.heacademy.ac.uk/html/postgrads_who_teach.asp> >http://www.psychology.heacademy.ac.uk/html/postgrads_who_teach.asp <https://owa.uwe.ac.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://www.psychology.heacademy.ac.uk/html/postgrads_who_teach.asp> )

An on-line discussion forum is also offered which allows members to
start discussions, post any problems, comments, and any feedback and
tips, which other members may find helpful in their teaching. The
workshops are tailored to address issues and concerns that members
are experiencing at the present time, such as dealing with difficult
students and how to make seminars interesting.

The network supports all postgraduates who teach psychology in the
UK, and is comprised of regional groups. Presently groups are set up
in the South East, South West and the West Midlands. Groups are also
being set up in the East Midlands, North East, North West, and
Scotland. The coordinators are:

South East Regional Coordinators from Kingston University, London
Debbie Smith [log in to unmask]
Natasha [log in to unmask]

South West Regional Coordinator from University of West England, Bristol
Melissa Wallace [log in to unmask]

West Midland Regional Coordinators from University of Birmingham
Amy Flavell [log in to unmask]
Joe Galea [log in to unmask]

If you are interesting in joining this network follow the membership
links on the website (see above for address), it is free or
charge. There are already over 40 members, and workshops are being
planned for the next few months (The next South East one is at Kings
College, London on May 2nd). It would be great to get more people
interested in the regions that groups are not established in as well
as areas where groups all ready exist.

I look forward to hearing from you and perhaps meeting you at a PGwT meeting.

Best wishes,

Melissa Wallace
