medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture that's a bit totalistic "nothing to do with"
actually, the better way to conceive of the relationship is that millennialism is about the messianic age to come (1000 year reign of the saints) and the round numbers (centuries will do) are apocalyptic triggers (ie intensify expectation of the advent of the millennial kingdom).
so millennialism is not necessarily connected to 000, but certainly can be related.  indeed, i argue, the whole notion of a millennium (rather than some other period for the messianic era) is related to the sabbatical millennium, ie in 6000 annus mundi, the messianic mn begins.
