What is the great plague of 672?
I write a paper about prediction of the Black Death and its astrological causes.
I thought there were no great epidemics between the plague in 542 and 1348 in Western Europe.
Where there any other epidemics except the one in 672?
Where can I get additional information about them?
Sorry, If it is not relevant to the subject of the mailing list.

  Maria.

Today (2. March) is the feast day of:

Pontius of Carthage (d. c. 260) Pontius served St. Cyprian as
deacon, and eventually wrote a vita of his master.

Chad (d. 672) The Northumbrian Chad was educated in Ireland, but
returned to England and became a priest. When his brother St. Cedd
died, he bequeathed the monastery of Lastingham to Chad. He was soon
chosen as bishop of York, a substitute for Wilfrid (who had been
chosen but had ambled off to Francia and was taking his time coming
back). When Wilfrid *did* return, C accepted his own deposition, but
was soon made bishop of Mercia, with his center at Lichfield. He
    died in the great plague.

Charles the Good (blessed) (d. 1127) Count Charles of Flanders seems
to have been a rather nice count---he fed the poor in a famine and
was very generous in other alms. His main claim to sanctity, though,
is that he was murdered in a church while he was praying (by some of
his own ministeriales). The cult was approved in 1883.
