Professor Sigrid Weigel, Technische Universität Berlin and Director of the Zentrum für Literaturforschung in Berlin, will be visiting the University of Warwick on 16-17 February, 2006. On Thursday 16 February, she will hold the prestigious annual Donald Charlton Lecture, sponsored by the Centre for Research in Philosophy and Literature and the Humanities Research Centre. Her lecture is entitled: 'The Measurement of Angels: Art and Science in the Course of Secularisation' The lecture is an extended consideration of the figure of the angel as a 'threshold figure' between the visible and the invisible, the material and the transcendent which posits the outer limit of positivist science within the secularised modern age. The lecture will be at 6.00pm in lecture theatre S0.21 in the Social Studies Building, and will be followed by a wine reception. All are welcome to attend. On Friday 17 February, at 1.00-2.00pm, in Room H202 (German Seminar Room in the Humanities Building) she will conduct a seminar / discussion (in German): 'Zum Generationsdiskurs in der deutschen Gegenwartskultur' Again, all are very welcome.
