NEW DIRECTIONS IN
CHILDREN’S GEOGRAPHIES

Themes:
The
growth of geographical research on the experiences and lifestyles of children
and young people has been well documented. The vibrancy of this research
field is illustrated, for example, by the publication in 2000 of Holloway and
Valentine’s Children’s
Geographies: playing, living learning, the launch of Children’s Geographies journal in
2003, a special edition of the Geographical Associations’ Geography journal (2003), and regular
sessions at international conferences. We propose that it is timely for
researchers to step back, reflect upon progress made to date, and debate new
directions in children’s geographies.
We
invite papers on the following themes:
Abstracts
(c.200 words) should be emailed to: [log in to unmask] by 31st March 2006. If you
would like to present a paper on a ‘new direction in children’s
geographies’ not listed above, please let us know.
