Craig: I have been working in Macao, in the drug field, during the eighties (1984/1989), an there I visited and had very interesting contacts with Dr. James Chien, in Hong Kong, who was the Director of SARDA (Society for the Aid and Rehabilitation of Drug Abusers): their work was quite serious and they had a therapeutic community in an Iland (She Kuo Shaw, if I remember), close to Hong Kong. Well, I made a report abut SARDA, but in Portuguese. James Chien was also a researcher and he has published quite interesting articles about their work (the role of acupuncture in drug treatment, for instance). But this was 20 years ago, many things changed in Hong Kon and I don't Know what happened to SARDA or to James Chien, or even if he is still alive. May be you can find out. I just wanted to tell you that, 20 years ago, in SARDA, the concept of therapeutic community was well known, well understood, and quite well applied, with very good results.
