Here in Southampton the take-up for e-mail notification hasn't been great. There are currently 2904 users signed up to receive email notices. This has only increased by about 1000 in the last 6 months. As we are joining 1500+ users a month, it isn't as popular as it should be.

Overdue notices seem to have remained static at around 60 items emailed 800 items by post, this was the same proportion as June last year. Item available notices tend to be just over 10% by email.

There appears to have been problems with some users spam filters, but the proportion of "Not Collected" items for email notices isn't any greater than postal, which point to this problem not being too widespread. The majority of reported failures are due to incorrect entry of the email address. We are not yet offering text messages.
