Lincolnshire County CouncilHighways and PlanningConservation Services Built Environment Assistant (Records) (Ref 40032985/LL)working with the Historic Environment Record.LincolnS5/6, £17,922 - £21,654 (subject to job evaluation) This permanent, full-time post is based in the Built Environment Team within the Planning and Conservation Group at offices in Lincoln. Lincolnshire is a very large county, rich in both history and archaeology. It has a diverse natural landscape with a variety of archaeology, ranging from the Prehistoric and monastic sites of the Witham Valley to the Neolithic barrows and deserted medieval villages of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The Built Environment Team offers an integrated service, maintaining and enhancing the Historic Environment Record (HER) and covering development control work, advice on agri-environmental schemes and includes the Lincolnshire Finds Liaison Officer of the Portable Antiquities Scheme.  The successful applicant will assist the Senior Environmental Records Officer as part of the section that runs the Lincolnshire HER, they will participate in the development of the HER and help to maintain an efficient service to users of the HER.  Duties will principally comprise updating and adding historic environment records, dealing with visitors to the HER and undertaking searches for customers using the exeGesIS HBSMR database software and MapInfo GIS. Applicants should have a degree or equivalent in archaeology or a related discipline and a sound knowledge of all aspects of British archaeology. They should also have experience of using databases and GIS systems. Familiarity with HER or SMR record systems would be an advantage. Applicants should be able to assess and summarise archaeological information effectively, and prepare written texts to a very high standard of clarity and literacy. They should be well motivated, conscientious, accurate, methodical, able to work well in a team and be courteous and helpful in dealing with the public. Possession of a full driving licence, or the intention to obtain one, would be desirable.
