St Day does indeed have a lot of problems.... but re Morris men in Cornwall, it depends... i spent an enchanting day in Boscastle a few years ago, on May Day weekend, having 'done' Padstow and the Oss on theThursday, and there was a Morris team in Boscastle..... from Kent! They were there by invitation, and i was actually working too, as one of the team had been a close friend of Alex Sanders (the late King of the Witches in Britain) and there was some kind of an interview-note-taking exercise. Then the Morris started up and i managed to match them drink for drink for three pubs, until i had to gracefully withdraw maybe it was the 'by invitation' angle, maybe it is becasue Kent, like Cornwall is an 'edge' county of the UK, thinks it is special and somewhat outside of England, and thus the Cornish appreciated that (i've lived in Anglesey too, and all three places seem to be liminal places in this fashion; i suspect Isle of Wight would be the same), but it's too much of a generalisation to say that 'English Morris' are not welcome in Cornwall there's also the whole question of ethnic Cornish versus incomers, and who it is who's doing the welcoming (or not) but that's not necessarily magical, and off topic anyhow dave e
