In Bokonyi, S. 1974 The Przevalsky Horse, he refers to Poljakow, I. S. Supposed new species of horse from Central Asia. Ann. Mag. Nat-Hist. 5 (1881) pp. 16-26. A colleague collected over 60 different names for the beast only in Hungarian publications (!). Even if half of them are simple typos, it is breathtaking. Does anyone know the precise reference to the 1881 publication by I. S. Poljakov (a.k.a. Poljakoff, Poljakow etc.). The original language of that publication would be of special interest. A scanned copy of the relevant page would also be of great help. Thank you for the help: Laszlo
