Ian,

You should contact with Francois Poplin [log in to unmask] from the Museum Nationale d'Histoire Naturelle of Paris. He is an expert on ivory.

Good luck,

Ana

A possible sawn ivory fragment was found in a late 17th century context during the excavations at the Bull Ring in Birmingham. Would anyone be prepared to examine this and ascertain if it is indeed ivory and if so what kind, e.g. elephant or walrus?
