Second Call for Papers

Conference: Tourism in Asia, Leeds (UK), 10-12 June, 2006

The deadline for submitting abstracts is now January 31st.

Tourism in Asia: new trends, new perspectives: the conference will consider a wide range of aspects of Asian tourism, in particular intra-regional and domestic tourism. Abstracts submitted so far cover subjects in 10 different countries from over 30 researchers and keynote speakers.

At the conference, a new book on Tourism in South East Asia (edited by Michael Hitchcock, Victor T. King and Michael J.G. Parnwell and published by NIAS Press) will be launched. Several contributors will be at the conference to present their recent research.

In addition to the main conference, two parallel seminars will be held in a workshop format. Delegates to 'Tourism in Asia' may also attend the seminars. These are:

Dragons & Tigers: exploring Asian tourism. This is intended as a forum for the tourism industry and development and conservation practitioners to come together and share information. Expert speakers will lead sessions on creating more market-focussed products in less well-known areas of Asia.

The Rose & Peony: welcoming Asian tourists to Britain. This seminar is intended primarily to help the UK inbound sector understand this emerging market, with expert speakers.
