Gallery Enabler Job Vacancy – Thinktank Birmingham Science Museum Permanent position, full time, starting salary: £11,500 gross p.a. Principal function To help visitors of all ages access and enjoy science and technology through exhibit/object interpretation and the delivery of a dynamic and exciting programme of activities for a family audience. To ensure that visitors experience the highest level of customer service and that health and safety in the galleries is upheld. Specific duties and responsibilities To welcome people to Thinktank and enable them to use exhibits effectively through demonstration and discussion To explain scientific and historic ideas clearly and accurately, in such a way that is appropriate for the age and understanding of the visitors they are addressing Brief schools and other groups as they arrive at the museum Assist schools and family learners with gallery trails and direct them to workshops, shows and events Deliver workshops, science busking and tours for family audiences To assist the Education Team in delivering outreach activities for schools and at science festivals Deliver shows in the Thinktank Planetarium and Thinktank Science Theatre Person specification Educated to degree level preferably in a science or history related subject A desire to follow a career in museums / science communication Experience working with children, ideally in a museum/science centre or similar environment Response Instructions Please contact [log in to unmask] for full job pack, including application form.
