Haley Sharpe Design is seeking to appoint a freelance science communicator / science writer to check the clarity and accuracy of text being drafted for a new exhibition. The theme of the exhibition is Islamic Science and Technology, and the themes encompassed include: * Astronomy * Chemistry * Military Technology * Architecture * Medicine * Nautical instruments * Optics * Geography * Engineering The scope of works includes an initial check of the draft text (approx 17,700 words in total, incorporating introductory graphics, individual exhibit labels, etc) to identify any inaccurate or misleading passages, along with a recommendation for revised wording. There will then need to be a second check of the final revised exhibit copy to ensure no additional inaccuracies have been introduced by the editing process. We anticipate this will total approximately 3-4 days' work spread over a three week period. Good working knowledge of the physical sciences in particular, combined with a demonstrated understanding of the realities and constraints of exhibit text (with respect to maximum word count and reading age), is essential. We wish to appoint someone by the end of this week, with a view to completion of the project by no later than November 28. Please submit CVs and a fee quotation to: Emily Daly [log in to unmask] Tel: 0116 242 9030 by 5pm Wednesday November 15 Any queries should also be directed to Emily as above.
