Education Development Officer

Full-Time hours to include weekends

An Education Development Officer is sought to work in the Education team. The post holder will spend approximately half their time delivering programming to schools either at the National Space Centre, through our outreach activities or via videoconferencing. The rest of the time will be spent working alongside the Education Manager and other members of the team on developing what we offer to the visitor and marketing it to educators. This will include updating current programmes, researching and producing new material to reflect the needs of the end user and supporting new projects.

The successful candidate will be experienced in working with school students and preparing and delivering educational programmes in the physical sciences, engineering or mathematics.  The ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team, with good communication and time management skills are also necessary.  A full driving licence is essential.


Presenter

To work 39 weeks per year / Full-Time hours to include weekends

We are looking to recruit a confident, outgoing individual to join the programmes team and assist in delivering high quality programmes to schools and the public.  The role will include presenting educational programmes in the Space Theatre, training as a Flight Director in our Challenger Learning centre, operating BT Stardome our portable planetarium, presenting outreach programmes, delivering workshops and assisting with day-to-day operations of the Space Centre.

The successful candidate will have a proven interest in astronomy and space science, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to many different audiences in a variety of settings.  Commitment to excellent standards of customer care is essential, whilst experience of presenting similar educational programmes in a formal or informal learning environment would be a distinct advantage.  A full driving licence is essential.
