Research Fellow

Informing Science Outreach and Public Engagement (The ISOTOPE Project)

Based in Milton Keynes 

Two year contract available from 1 October 2006   

We are seeking a Research Fellow to work on the ISOTOPE Project. The successful applicant will engage in action research, making use of qualitative and quantitative research methods in order to inform the development of a web portal of practical advice for those conducting science outreach and public engagement activities. A good honours degree in a relevant subject is required. Given the cross disciplinary nature of the project relevant subjects may include: Public Understanding of Science, Science Communication, Sociology; or a Science subject supported by experience of social sciences work. Previous research experience or research training at post-graduate level using social research methods is essential. Preferably, applicants should have a Ph.D. or be in the process of completing one. However, candidates who are otherwise suitably qualified will be considered. Excellent interpersonal, communication and ICT skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines on your own initiative, are essential.
