The University of Glamorgan's Centre for Astronomy and Science Education (CASE) is seeking four Development Officers to help set up and operate a network of Science Shops in South-East Wales. This exciting new project in innovative and participatory science communication will offer support for the science and technology research needs of non-governmental organizations and community groups in the region; its launch represents a nationally and internationally significant initiative in science-society interaction.

Successful applicants must possess a minimum of an honours degree and be able to demonstrate both research and teaching experience. A combination of good people and research skills is essential, as is a background in science and technology communication. While further specialist training in science shops operation and community-based research techniques will be provided, prior experience in these areas will be an advantage. Applicants must be flexible, innovative, self-motivated, prepared to work in (and enjoy) cross- and inter-disciplinary projects, and be ready to develop new skills and work practices as the project unfolds.

These full time posts are fixed term for two years until August 2008, with a possibility of an extension if further funding becomes available. Salary: £23,182 - 27,117.
