Hi, My experiences mesh pretty much with what has been said already. One added thing is that you ask for 'authoratitive info'. I tried to track this down last year and as far as I could tell, there are no definitive rules. Different LEAs have different guidelines about what is acceptable, so really talking to the school you are working with is the only way to be sure. Most organisations who deal regularly will children seem to be clued-up on what they need to do. The DfES did promise to send me the guidelines they use, but they never did. One thing we found is that there seems to be a lot more leeway if the child is photographed in such a way that they can not be recognised - eg over their shoulder as they work with your exciting project! I remember a good while ago there was a discussion on the list about the restrictions and permissions that applied when taking photos of children. I can't remember the recommendatons but if anyone can point me in the direction of authoritative info I'd be grateful. We plan to visit a school to take a series of pics of kids in science classes. The pics will be used in furture publications - electronic and print. They will not be made available to third parties. We have the teacher's permission and I imagine model release forms for the individual kids will be needed - are there any other rules we need to be aware of?
