Dear Colleague

Netskills will be running the following workshops at Wolverhampton University

1. Problem Based e-Learning, 17th October
-----------------------------------------------------
Most e-learning is content driven but often it fails to deliver much more than knowledge reproduction and comprehension. Delivering higher levels of learning such as analysis, synthesis and evaluation requires a different approach. Developed by professionals in the field, this cutting edge workshop investigates the use of problem based learning (PBL) as the basis for delivering higher order e-learning.

2. Communication & Collaboration for e-Learning, 18th October
-----------------------------------------------------
Communication and collaboration are key elements of the online learning process. Whilst many tools facilitate these activities, using them effectively requires careful design, planning and management.

This practical workshop will enable you to engage learners in collaborative learning through best use of the online environment.

3. Assessment Solutions for e-Learning, 25th October
-----------------------------------------------------
Assessment, when used well, has long been recognised as a key element of developing effective learning. The rise in recent years of online assessment has brought a range of assessment tools and techniques into general use. While they provide an important framework to facilitate the delivery of online assessment, questions remain regarding the effective design and development of pedagogically fit online assessment.

4. e-Assessment: Tools & Techniques, 26th October
-----------------------------------------------------
This workshop focuses on tools available for creating online assessment and the practical techniques required to use them effectively. Participants will have the opportunity to evaluate a range of assessment tools that can be used to create different types of assessment. In particular, we will focus on the emerging assessment management system TOIA, which is freely-available to UK HE and FE. These tools will be considered in terms of their functionality and interoperability with other tools and systems such as VLEs.

5. Design Solutions for e-Learning, 31st October
-----------------------------------------------------
We believe design is the key to effective e-learning. Led by professionals in the field, this cutting-edge workshop will enable you to apply a proven instructional design methodology to produce pedagogically-effective e-learning.

6. Detecting and Deterring Plagiarism, 1st November
-----------------------------------------------------
This practical workshop explores the impact of the web on plagiarism in education, and enables attendees to examine online and other methods of deterring and detecting it.
