That's interesting Mike but the cases do this anti plagiarism movement no good whatsoever.
 
Student/graduate Ian's Blog is worthy of a read and he has just a few cases posted there. You can register and comment on what is there: I did that.
 
As for the young lady, my comment is that she may have been guilty of plagiarism, I can't judge from what I know already. What I can be sure of is that a 2:1 should not be awarded to someone who relies on or mainly on one source ...
 
As for Ian, I have much more sympathy for him if his story has been accurately presented. We have had a similar debate here where some of us feel that the over zealous teacher should be allowed to fail someone who omits aspects of an acknowlegement ... but not entirely.
 
Just goes to show that this problem is not going to go away doesn't it. The outcome could be, of course, that so many borderline or emotive cases will appear that the entire plagiarism situation will become a tree hugger's paradise.
