Two Positions in Landscape Architecture

The Positions:  The Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Manitoba invites applications for two full-time tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence as early as July 1st 2006 or as soon thereafter.  Teaching responsibilities will include design studio, seminar, and lecture format courses at the undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. level in the Faculty of Architecture.  Candidates shall demonstrate the ability to teach and to inspire students at all levels, and the ability to facilitate the integration of design within core areas of the curriculum.  Candidates with demonstrated excellence in landscape architectural design and a research interest in ecological design, landscape ecology, landscape urbanism or ecological regionalism are invited to apply to Position #BC464.   Candidates with demonstrated excellence in landscape architectural design and a research interest in landscape architecture history and theory, design communication (including digital), or construction technology are invited to apply for Position #CS652.  Candidates may be considered for either position.  Other responsibilities include creative/scholarly work, advising graduate students and the performance of service and/or outreach duties. 

Qualifications.  The candidates require a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or related discipline from an accredited institution and be eligible for membership in a component organization of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA).  Candidates holding, or completing their PhD are preferred, but consideration will be given to those interested in pursuing research at the Ph.D. level. 

Salary.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The appointment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the current Collective Agreement between the University of Manitoba and the University of Manitoba Faculty Association.

Faculty and Program.  The Faculty of Architecture is dedicated to studies in the design of human settlements.  It comprises four graduate departments offering first professional degrees in Architecture, City Planning, Interior Design or Landscape Architecture, a three-year inter-disciplinary undergraduate program in Environmental Design and a new Ph.D. in Design and in Planning.  The Faculty hosts a number of inter-department international studios and encourages a high level of inter-disciplinary collaboration.  The program in Landscape Architecture is fully accredited by the CSLA with equivalency with the ASLA.  Further details can be obtained from our web site www.umanitoba/faculties/architecture/la.
