In order to mark the forthcoming
joint conference with the Association of Business Historians, on the theme of
'BUSINESS LINKS: Trade, Distribution
and Networks', to be held on 29
and 30 June 2007 at the
University of Wolverhampton, a CHORD New Research prize of £ 100 will be
awarded to the best article on the history of retailing or distribution
published (or accepted for publication) since 2002 by a postgraduate student or
'new' researcher (defined as a scholar who in June 2007 will be within 5 years
of obtaining their research degree).
Articles on any aspect of retailing or
distribution history, historical period and geographical area will be accepted
for consideration. Please note, however, that international trade is not
included in the definition of 'distribution', and that the article must have a
strong historical component. The best article will be judged on the basis of
originality, contribution to knowledge and overall scholarly
quality.
To submit an entry, please send 5 hard copies (or
off-prints) of the article, publication details, short CV and (if the article
has not yet been published) letter of acceptance to the address
below.
The dead-line for submissions is 16 February
2007.
The short-list will be announced in April
2007.
Short-listed entrants will be invited to give
short presentations to the CHORD / ABH conference on 29 / 30 June 2007. The
winner will be announced during the conference
