Apologies for cross-posting SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN ATMOSPHERIC CHEMISTRY Radical measurements in the atmospheric boundary layer Post 1 Field studies of peroxy radicals and the chemical lifetime of the hydroxyl radical using Laser Induced Fluorescence Spectroscopy, and the development of a new chemiluminescence instrument for the field detection of the hydroxyl radical. Post 2 Field studies of reactive radical species – particularly the nitrate radical and halogen oxides – in the marine boundary layer (Brittany and Cape Verde) and tropical rainforest (Borneo), using the technique of Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy. Applicants must have, or expect to obtain shortly, an experimental PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Atmospheric Science or a related discipline. The posts are available from 1st June 2006 (flexible), or as soon as possible thereafter, for a period of up to 24 months (dependent on starting salary) Salary is on the RA1A scale £20,044 - £30,002 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience.
