Lecturer in the History of Modern Technology 
(Fixed term appointment for three years)

Salary: £36,200 - £40,430 per annum

Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in the History of Modern Technology at the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine.  The Centre is one of the leading places internationally for the study of the history of science, technology and medicine. It runs one of the most successful graduate programmes in the world and was rated 5A in the last research assessment exercise.

We are seeking to appoint a historian of modern technology on a fixed term contract to replace Professor David Edgerton for 36 months while he is on research leave having been awarded a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship.

You will be expected to contribute to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in the history of technology and science from 1750 (the industrial revolution) to the present (including MSc supervision and some contribution to PhD teaching), and may be asked to contribute to teaching in areas beyond your research speciality at undergraduate level and in tutoring MSc students.

We are looking for someone who shows outstanding potential as a researcher and teacher in the history of modern technology and science.  You must have a PhD in the History of Science and Technology or closely related field, have demonstrated excellence in research and have the capacity to develop your research at international level.
