The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin, Dept. I (Prof. Dr. Jürgen Renn) announces a Postdoctoral Fellowship beginning March 1, 2007 (or at the earliest). The position is part of the research initiative “History of Quantum Mechanics,” conducted with the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society. Outstanding junior scholars with a Ph.D. history of science, philosophy of science, or physics (preferably awarded no earlier than 2001) are invited to apply. Research projects in all areas of history of quantum mechanics are welcome, but the project is especially interested in researchers with good knowledge of the theory that are willing to engage in a detailed study of sources and their understanding. Applications (which may be submitted in German or English) from qualified candidates of all nationalities are welcome. It is expected that candidates have an excellent command of English. The fellows are expected to participate actively in the research activities of the institute. Fellowships are endowed with a monthly stipend between 1.900 and 2300 € (fellows from abroad).
