The National Preservation Office announces a new course, designed to help libraries and archives provide the optimum environment for their holdings. Knowing the need, the NPO's report on the emerging national picture of preservation need (http://www.bl.uk/services/npo/publicationsnpo.html), highlighted the improvement of environmental conditions as an imperative for the long-term survival of collections.
