MmIT (the IT subgroup of CILIP) invites you to join us for the next event in our free evening seminar series.

Web 2.0 - A look beyond the hype and hope of the "Next Net"
Speaker: Jonathan Eaton (Electronic Resources Manager, London Business School)

Web 2.0 is the latest in a long line of Internet buzzwords and is an umbrella term used to describe many of the most visibly "new" web developments, including social networking tools (blogs, wikis, file sharing); "mash-ups" and "webtop" applications.

Starting with the origins of "Web 2.0", the talk will

			- examine some key themes, technologies and models that power social networking web services and new enterprise techniques
			- take a critical look at some of the assumptions and implications of the Web 2.0 movement
			- evaluate the relative strengths and weaknesses of some of its key enabling technologies
			- discuss its relationship and influence on persistent social and business challenges

The talk will take place on Thursday 18th January 2007 at O'Neill's (Upper bar)
2-3 New Bridge Street
London. EC4V 6AA
Close to City Thameslink & Blackfriars mainline and underground station
