INFORMATION AUDITING IN PRACTICE
24 October 2006, London

Information auditing is a low-risk investment with potential for high yield, and it can be applied flexibly in a variety of ways to suit different organisations and situations. It provides a solid basis of knowledge about the organisation's information resources, which makes a reliable starting point for information strategy or knowledge management initiatives.

BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
This highly practical one-day workshop will provide you with the theory behind information auditing, as well as practical auditing methods that you can apply in your own organisation. It will also give you a handy practical explanation of how knowledge and information are distinct from one another, but also depend on each other, and how you can't have knowledge management without information management.

BY THE END OF THE EVENT PARTICIPANTS WILL HAVE LEARNED:
·	techniques for analysing their organisation's key objectives to derive information objectives
·	how to make a sound business case for information auditing to management
·	how to plan an information audit
·	to interpret and present the findings and recommend actions
·	to make a case for these changes
·	to take a lead role in implementing them

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Any information professional who:
* has been asked/instructed to make an information audit
* wants to take an initiative to sell the idea of an audit
* wants to find out whether information auditing would be useful for their organisation, or their own career development

WORKSHOP LEADER: LIZ ORNA
Liz has been an independent information consultant, writer and lecturer since 1979. She combines practical experience with writing and teaching designed to help practitioners in their work. Her Practical Information Policies, (Ed 2 Gower 1999) has become a classic in its field. Information Strategy in Practice, a short practical text, (Gower 2004) brings the treatment of information auditing up to date in the light of recent experience.
