USING THE INTERNET TO RESEARCH COMPANIES AND MARKETS 3 October 2006, London This very practical workshop will outline how the Internet can help you to understand a company or marketplace. The Internet continues to increase in size and this event will outline what research is possible either with a search engine's help or by going directly to sites that search engines do not, or are unable to, search. In addition to facts, the workshop will also address rumours (perhaps as important a source to business as any other type of information!) and will particularly, though not exclusively, identify free sources of information accessible from any library or information unit computer connected to the Internet. BENEFITS OF ATTENDING By the end of the event participants will have: · a finding list of key websites in these subject areas · strategies, basic and creative, for effective internet business information searching · an opportunity to test their skills and investigate some key sites in a case study WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Information specialists who have an interest in company, market and general business information. This is likely to appeal particularly to those: · who have been doing business information enquiries for at least six months and need to expand their basic knowledge · moving into this subject area who need to pick up ideas fast · with significant business information experience who want to test their current understanding of what is possible. This is not a general "introduction to the internet" workshop and it will assume that attendees are already competent users of the major search engines. WORKSHOP LEADER: TERRY KENDRICK Terry Kendrick, originally a librarian, is a marketing and information consultant who since 1987 has undertaken marketing and information projects in seventeen different countries for over fifty large organisations.
