Our university's senior management has decided that all email sent from the university must have a bilingual disclaimer attached. You will see the text of the disclaimer at the end of this message. We have concerns about attaching this disclaimer to email circulation notices for two reasons. 1. It doesn't seem helpful to add that "views or opinions are solely those of the sender and do not necessarily represent those of the university" when asking a user to return library books before the original due date because someone else requires them, or books which are overdue. 2. We share our library system with another institution and the disclaimer is irrelevant to their students and staff. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? We understand that some universities have acknowledged that these are notifications not correspondence and as such fall outside the 'need' to include a disclaimer. I would be grateful for any suggestions from libraries which have overcome this problem. Thanks.
