***** Apologies for cross posting *****

CILIP University College and Research Group (London Section) would like
to invite you to the following visit:

Royal Society of Medicine Library
1 Wimpole St
Wed 17 May 2006, 2.30pm

A maximum of 10 people can attend, so it will be on a first come, first

The Royal Society of Medicine Library is one of the largest postgraduate
biomedical libraries in Europe, which has been actively contributing to
continuing medical education for nearly 200 years.

The primary aim of the Library is to acquire current clinical and
experimental research material in all the main specialties of medicine,
as well as clinical practice literature. It also houses a large
historical collection. The total collection contains well over half a
million volumes; approximately 1200 current journal titles and over
10,000 historical journal titles.

The visit will include a viewing of some examples from the Rare Books
Collection, a Library tour and a talk from the Collection Management
Librarian. There will also be a brief overview of the Society archives,
with the Archivist.
