***** Apologies for cross-postings ***** Career Development Group (West Midlands) Visit to Aston University Library & Information Services Tuesday 27th February 2007 10am (coffee from 9.30am) to 4pm FREE The visit will provide an overview of Aston University Library & Information Services, and will also highlight some of the recent initiatives in the Library. Much more than a brief library tour, this is a day-long visit to allow attendees to get in-depth information about aspects of the service, network with fellow professionals and reflect on their own practice. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions and informal discussions in interest groups, if appropriate. The draft programme includes tours of the library, and presentations/seminars on: Virtual Tours for Induction The Review of the Service Points WebCT Information Skills Tutorial The Learning & Skills Centre (part of the Write Now CETL) We hope that a wide range of people will find this visit interesting, but it may be especially appropriate for Chartership or Certification candidates, people who want to visit another service to compare with their own academic library, or people working in other sectors who would like to see how a different kind of service operates. Although organised by the Career Development Group West Midlands Division, attendees are welcome from all regions. The visit is free, but booking is essential. Please note that lunch is not included; there will be a room made available to eat sandwiches - Aston campus has plenty of places to purchase food, or feel free to bring your own.
