Subject: Assistant Treasure for the HLG

Dear All

Sadly the HLG is in need of a deputy treasure! Claire Shemilt has done sterling work as both HLG Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, but is now moving on to bigger and better things. As such the HLG is looking to find a volunteer Assistant Treasurer to fill this role.

It would ideally suit anyone interested in gaining financial experience, looking to getting involved in the national aspect of health libraries and playing a part in the progression and development of their profession. (Also anyone Chartering with CILIP would find this role a big benefit to their Chartership!).

The role will involve working with the HLG treasurer (myself) and with the HLG committee. You would have training for the position from the current post holder and the HLG Treasurer, as well as support from CILIP. Some of the key aspects of the role would be looking after the income side of the finances, such as prompt invoicing and paying in of funds, while also working with the Treasurer on the financial reports to the HLG committee, end of year audits and annual reports to the HLG group. But don’t panic! It’s not as bad as it sounds, you’ll not be left to sink or swim, as there will be plenty of support for you from HLG. It’s a great way to develop your CV and play a part in the national role of the HLG. Also it’s a good way of getting more involved and maybe playing an even bigger role on the HLG committee in the future!

Please, if you are interested or just want more information, contact me, HLG Treasurer, Richard Parker, by email ([log in to unmask]) or by phone 0116 2502307. Or Alan Fricker, HLG Chairman, [log in to unmask]

Yours

Richard Parker
