GEOSPATIAL  SYSTEMS SUPPORT 
London  location 
Salary  around £20,000 plus bonus & excellent benefits 
What  does the job involve? 
The  role is quite junior but is permanent.  Responsibilities are centred on 
providing a first line of support to  customers.  Customers usually raise  
technical queries via e-mail or telephone.  Along with two other people in the 
support group your job will be to  handle the incident and look to resolve the 
problem as rapidly as possible,  involving software development, sales or 
consultancy personnel, if  required.  Untypically, the client  anticipates the need 
to train this person and is willing to make the investment  in time and 
funding that will provide this.  In short, you will receive full training  in the 
client’s software and services enabling you to competently handle the  job. 
What  experience must I possess? 
    *   Either  current or recent experience of working with a local  
authority. 
    *   Some  involvement with highways, planning or transportation  
applications. 
    *   Practical  knowledge of GIS.  ArcView or  MapInfo ideally, but any 
other generically similar product will  suffice. 
    *   MS  Office products. 
    *   Good  written and spokencommunication skills.
What  personal attributes should I possess? 
    *   Eye  for detail, inquiring mind, “Can do” attitude. 
    *   Comfortable  with a customer-facing role. 
    *   Enjoyment  of resolving problems 
    *   Strong  at multi-tasking, not easily flustered.   An effective 
communicator, good customer support  ethic. 
    *   Versatile,  resourceful and self-motivating.
What  prospects does the job hold? 
You  would not be expected to stay in this role for ever.  Typically the job 
has been a stepping  stone to other areas of the clients business activities, 
such as software  development, training, sales or consultancy.
