EDINA (http://edina.ac.uk) is a national data centre, designated by the
JISC, and forms part of the 'virtual library' for staff and students in UK
higher and further education.  A key strategic objective is to improve
access to spatial data, via the Internet, using Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) and related technologies. Our most well known spatial data
services are EDINA Digimap and UKBORDERS.

You will support online services delivering geographic information via the
Internet. The work involves maintaining web-based services, providing
operational cover and undertaking small scale development. Ideally you will
have a degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, sound experience
of working in a UNIX (Solaris) environment, and expertise in Java,
JSP/Servlets development, XML and related technologies, Tomcat, UML and 
good database skills (Ingres or PostgreSQL or Oracle, SQL, JDBC).  We will 
be looking for an individual who can demonstrate flexibility, initiative, 
the ability to deal with time pressures and who has good problem solving 
skills.  The ability to work as part of a dynamic team is essential. The 
appointment is for 18 months in the first instance. Application details
