Dear Colleagues
"Granulites and Granulites 2006", Brasília, July 10-12,
2006.
Abstract submission and early bird registration deadline April 23rd, go
to:
http://www.geol.umd.edu/pages/meetings/Gran&GranTables.htm
The Granulites and Granulites 2006 Conference will review recent
advances and identify key issues for future progress. The meeting
will include invited keynote presentations across the spectrum of themes
for the meeting, as well as contributed talks and posters that will
provide up-to-date summaries of significant advances from granulite
facies terrains worldwide. There is only a limited number of
“slots” for oral presentations and we strongly encourage everyone to
consider submitting one or more poster presentations with examples of
your current research. We will select contributions for oral
presentation based on their likely general appeal (for example, process
oriented topics).
Short Course: Calculating Metamorphic Mineral Equilibria
A short course on "Calculating Metamorphic Mineral
Equilibria" will be given by Roger Powell and Richard White at the
University of Sao Pãulo on June 30-July 3, 2006. The short course
is 3.5 days in length, so participants from outside São Paulo should
arrive on June 29, 2006, but the course will finish at mid-day on July 3,

Brazil). Computers for practical instruction will be available, but
participants are encouraged to bring a laptop if they have one.
Field Trips

high-pressure granulites of the Andrelândia sequence, Minas Gerais
(departing from Rio de Janeiro; registration fee $520) and will be
followed by a 5-day field trip to the ultrahigh-temperature granulites of
the Barro-Alto and Anápolis-Itauçu Complexes, Goias (ending in Brasília;
